New paper accepted in JASA Express Letters — Artemis community noise study

[Placeholder — add details once published. This paper presents community-scale measurements of acoustic, ground, and structural response during rocket launches, connected to the Artemis program.]

Field work

Team deploys sensors at Cape Canaveral ahead of launch window

Our team spent three days in the field deploying a multi-sensor array — including microphones, accelerometers, and ground vibration sensors — ahead of a scheduled launch window near Cape Canaveral. Data collection went smoothly and analysis is ongoing.

Award

Dr. Coyle receives Critchfield Research Grant for final phase of rocket launch noise monitoring

Rollins College has awarded Dr. Coyle a Critchfield Research Grant to support the final phase of our rocket launch noise monitoring campaign near Cape Canaveral. This funding supports continued field work and student involvement in the project.

Award

Dr. Coyle receives the Cornell Distinguished Faculty Award

Rollins College has recognized Dr. Coyle with the Cornell Distinguished Faculty Award for 2025, honoring excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service to the college community.

Award

CARL awarded City of Cape Canaveral rocket noise measurement contract

We have been awarded a contract by the City of Cape Canaveral to conduct community-scale acoustic measurements during rocket launches. This work will help the city better understand and manage the noise impact of the Space Coast's growing launch frequency on surrounding neighborhoods.
