Principal Investigator
Dr. Coyle has been at Rollins College since 2015, where she teaches physics and serves as Chair of the Physics Department. She earned her Ph.D. in Acoustics from Penn State as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow and her B.S. in Music (Clarinet) and Mathematics from Murray State. During her doctoral work she collaborated with researchers in France, deepening her expertise in musical acoustics and instrument modeling. Her research spans rocket launch acoustics and musical acoustics — two very different sound sources bound together by rigorous field work, careful data analysis, and undergraduate collaboration. Outside the lab, she enjoys playing bass clarinet with various groups around Orlando, running long distances (having completed 39 half marathons, 7 full marathons) and spending time with her husband and two daughters.
